📝 Ein Wechsel, der für Stirnrunzeln sorgt – und ein junges Talent unter Druck setzt

Gestern kam die überraschende Eilmeldung: Flavio Briatore wird neuer Teamchef von Alpine, Oliver Oakes tritt freiwillig zurück. Und auch heute bleibt es alles andere als ruhig rund um den französischen Rennstall. Am Vormittag wurde bestätigt, was schon seit Beginn der Formel-1-Saison 2025 heftig diskutiert wurde: Franco Colapinto ersetzt Jack Doohan – aber erstmal nur für fünf Rennen?! Eine spannende – und durchaus polarisierende – Entscheidung von Briatore.

🎯 Colapinto: Blitzstart, Bauchlandung, zweite Chance

Colapinto ist kein Neuling in der Formel 1 mehr: 2024 debütierte er bei Williams, nachdem er Logan Sargeant ab dem Großen Preis von Italien ersetzt hatte. Seine ersten Rennen sorgten für Aufsehen – vor allem sein 8. Platz in Baku brachte ihm nicht nur Punkte, sondern auch Anerkennung im Fahrerlager. Mit fünf Zählern in neun Rennen war seine Rookie-Bilanz absolut nicht von schlechten Eltern.

Auch bei den Fans kam Colapinto gut an – nicht nur wegen seiner Leistungen, sondern auch durch seine authentische und unverfrorene Art, die vermutlich auch damit zu tun hat, dass ihm noch das klassische Mediatraining fehlte.

Doch gegen Saisonende geriet der junge Argentinier ins Straucheln: vier Ausfälle in Folge, teils durch technische Probleme, teils durch eigene Fehler. Beim Saisonfinale in Abu Dhabi wurde es emotional – über den Teamfunk bedankte sich Colapinto sichtlich gerührt und betonte, wie sehr es für ihn ein Traum gewesen sei, in der Formel 1 fahren zu dürfen und in der Winterpause wurde der Argentinier dann als Ersatzfahrer für Alpine bekannt gegeben – der Traum war also noch nicht ausgeträumt.

🚧 Doohans schwieriger Saisonstart

Jack Doohan durfte ebenfalls 2024 sein erstes offizielles Formel 1 Rennen bestreiten – er sprang kurzfristig für den Franzosen Esteban Ocon ein, der kurz vor dem Finale das Team verlassen hatte. Doohan wurde anschließend als Stammfahrer für die Saison 2025 bestätigt.

Doch bereits vor Saisonbeginn machten Gerüchte die Runde, dass zwischen ihm und Colapinto ein „Shoot-out“ stattfinden könnte – also ein internes Duell um das Cockpit. Die Spekulationen verdichteten sich: Sollte Doohan nicht die gewünschte Leistung bringen, würde er ersetzt werden. Und genau das ist jetzt passiert – auch wenn es nur für fünf Rennen ist.

Klar ist: das Ganze wirkt alles andere als fair. Es zeigt einmal mehr, wie Briatore mit Fahrern umgeht – als wären sie austauschbare Ware statt Menschen. Mehr muss dazu wohl nicht gesagt werden.

📉 Null Punkte, viel Druck

Doohan hatte einen holprigen Saisonstart. Obwohl bereits sechs Rennen absolviert wurden, steht er noch immer ohne Punkte da. Sowohl beim Heimrennen in Australien als auch zuletzt in Miami schied er frühzeitig aus. Zudem sammelte er bereits vier Strafpunkte und erhielt mehrere Zeitstrafen – unter anderem wegen Kollisionen und Verstößen gegen die Track Limits.

Aber: Doohan ist immer noch ein Rookie! Er hätte ganz klar mehr Zeit gebraucht, um sich ans Auto zu gewöhnen. Und wie soll man unter solch öffentlichem Druck überhaupt zur Ruhe kommen? Noch bevor er überhaupt sein Potenzial zeigen konnte, wurde er von den Medien praktisch abgeschrieben.

🔄 Und jetzt? Colapinto übernimmt – aber wie lange?

Nun ist es also offiziell: Doohan wird für fünf Rennen durch Colapinto ersetzt. Warum? Das versteht wahrscheinlich niemand so richtig. Und was danach passiert? Auch völlig offen.

Eine dieser typischen „spontanen“ Entscheidungen, wie sie unter Briatore wohl öfter passieren werden. Ob das langfristig gutgeht? Fraglich.

✨Mein Fazit

Ich finde diese Entwicklung traurig – vor allem für Doohan. Junge Fahrer brauchen Rückhalt, keine Spielchen. Alpine hätte die Chance gehabt, Kontinuität zu schaffen und Vertrauen aufzubauen. Stattdessen wirkt alles planlos, kurzfristig und unberechenbar. Aber gut – das ist wohl der „Briatore-Style“.

Yesterday came the surprising news: Flavio Briatore is the new team principal of Alpine, and Oliver Oakes is stepping down voluntarily. And even today, it remains anything but quiet around the French team. In the morning, it was confirmed what has been heavily speculated since the beginning of the 2025 Formula 1 season: Franco Colapinto is replacing Jack Doohan – but only for five races?! A bold – and certainly polarizing – decision by Briatore.

🎯 Colapinto: Fast start, rough landing, second chance

Colapinto is no stranger to Formula 1 anymore: In 2024, he made his debut with Williams, replacing Logan Sargeant from the Italian Grand Prix onward. His first races made quite an impact – especially his 8th place finish in Baku, which not only earned him points but also respect in the paddock. With five points in nine races, his rookie season was far from disappointing.

He was also well-received by fans – not just because of his performances, but also due to his authentic and unpolished style, likely stemming from a lack of traditional media training.

However, towards the end of the season, the young Argentine stumbled: four consecutive retirements, partly due to technical issues, partly due to his own mistakes. In the season finale in Abu Dhabi, things got emotional – over the team radio, Colapinto thanked everyone, visibly moved, and emphasized how much it had meant for him to race in Formula 1. During the winter break, the Argentine was announced as Alpine’s reserve driver, so the dream was far from over.

🚧 Doohan’s challenging start to the season

Jack Doohan also made his Formula 1 debut in 2024, stepping in for Esteban Ocon, who was let go shortly before the season finale. Doohan was then confirmed as a full-time driver for the 2025 season.

But even before the season began, rumors swirled that there might be a “shoot-out” between him and Colapinto – an internal duel for the cockpit. The speculation grew: if Doohan didn’t deliver the required performance, he would be replaced. And that’s exactly what has happened – even though it’s only for five races.

Clearly, this doesn’t seem entirely fair. It once again shows how Briatore treats drivers – as if they’re interchangeable commodities rather than human beings. No further explanation needed.

📉 No points, high pressure

Doohan had a rocky start to the season. Even after six races, he’s still without points. Both at his home Grand Prix in Australia and most recently in Miami, he retired early. He’s also accumulated four penalty points and several time penalties – including for collisions and track limit violations.

But: Doohan is still a rookie! He definitely needed more time to adjust to the car. And how is he supposed to find his rhythm under such public pressure? Before he could even show his full potential, the media and the team practically wrote him off.

🔄 What now? Colapinto steps in – but for how long?

Now, it’s official: Doohan will be replaced by Colapinto for five races. Why? Honestly, that’s something no one really understands. And what happens after that? Again, completely uncertain.

This seems like just another one of those „spontaneous“ decisions that tend to happen under Briatore. Will this work in the long run? Highly questionable.

✨My conclusion

I find this whole development quite sad – especially for Doohan. Young drivers need support, not mind games. Alpine had the opportunity to build continuity and trust, but instead, it all seems short-term, reactive, and unpredictable. But well, I guess that’s just the “Briatore-Style”.
